About Us
11.12
We’re a peer ministry that’s run by youth, for youth.
The Presbyterian Young People’s Society is made up of young people between the ages of 14 and 25, most of whom hail from Canadian Presbyterian churches. Our executive committee is composed almost entirely of young people, with two notable accomplices: our adult advisor and synod youth consultant.
We have a voice and vote on two committees in the Synod of Central, Northeastern Ontario and Bermuda, and are included in the annual synod meeting. Many of us are active members of our home churches, although we happily accept any youth who is interested in our involvements, activities, and who may not do the usual “church thing.”
Together we plan, organize, and implement three retreats each year. One in February, one over the May long weekend, and one in late September or early October. They’re open to all young people in the synod, as well as youth leaders who may attend in an observational capacity. These events are opportunities for young people to experience God, grow in their faith, and meet new friends all in a welcoming environment.
